THERAPY FOR YOUNG ADULTS IN NEW YORK CITY

THERAPY for young adults in NYC

Life for millennials can be incredibly challenging

Young adults ages 18-35 who fall into this category are often highly educated and technologically connected, yet frequently struggle with finding purpose or meaning beyond their everyday living. Add life in the Big Apple, with its constant hustle and bustle, and a self-selected peer group of high achievers to the mix, and some millennials might realize that so-called “adulting” is far more challenging than they anticipated.

We understand and respect the challenges that young adults face as they navigate life, careers, relationships, families and more. We have extensive experience working with young adults as they confront everyday stress and uncertainty during this important developmental period.

What What does therapy for YOUNG ADULTS look like?

If you feel that you are having trouble adjusting to life as a young adult and would like to create new ways of managing challenges as they arise, please feel free to get in touch to learn more about our work or schedule a consultation appointment. Together we can start talking about how to make subtle changes in your life in order to overcome obstacles getting in the way of your success and feeling more grounded.

    Insight-Oriented Therapy (Psychodynamic)

Insight-oriented therapy is based on the belief that through increased consciousness we can create new life experiences. This therapeutic process involves the therapist and client exploring and gaining a better understanding of how feelings, beliefs, actions, and events from the past may be influencing our current mindset and circumstances. The goal of insight-oriented therapy is to empower you with a sense of clarity so that you have the freedom to make new, adaptive, and healthier choices that support your continuing growth.

    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

This process is focused on addressing thought patterns, physical symptoms, and behaviors. Research shows that CBT is a very effective form of treating a variety of issues. Through compassionate and supportive care, we hope to create a safe space for you to feel comfortable in starting the process toward growth and reducing the feelings of depression and anxiety you may be feeling. CBT can be used alone or combined with mindfulness/meditation.

    Mindfulness Practices

Through consistent practice, like meditation, we become more focused on the present and understand our experience in the here-and-now. Mindfulness teaches us to shift our attention away from negative thought patterns that lead to the unsatisfactory and problematic thoughts and behaviors and move toward positive and meaningful growth. Mindfulness can be used alone or combined with insight-oriented therapy and CBT.
