“Therapy is your gateway to clarity, confidence, and meaningful change.”

Imagine navigating your career and relationships with greater clarity, steadiness, and intention — even during periods of transition or sustained pressure. Many of the people I work with are accomplished and capable, yet feel stretched, uncertain, or disconnected beneath the surface. Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and move forward with greater purpose and alignment.

Meet Nancy Lumb, LCSW,
Licensed Psychotherapist

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing individual and couples therapy for high-performing professionals, executives, and couples in New York and California. My work is especially well suited for people navigating career transitions, leadership pressure, complex relationships, and life changes that require both emotional depth and practical direction.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent over two decades running an advertising agency and working in international business consulting. I lived and worked abroad and balanced life across multiple countries for many years. This professional and personal background deeply informs my clinical work. I understand the realities of high-responsibility roles, global careers, and the personal impact of demanding professional lives. Many clients seek me out because they value working with a therapist who brings both clinical expertise and lived professional experience into the room.

I work with individuals seeking support around stress, identity shifts, decision-making, and work-life balance, as well as couples navigating communication challenges, relationship transitions, and high-stakes partnership dynamics. My couples work includes both romantic partners and business partnerships in new and long term relationships who are working to strengthen trust, alignment, communication skills, and emotional connection.

I also support professionals living between cultures, including those navigating international relocations as well as clients balancing life between New York and California. Drawing from firsthand experience living abroad and maintaining life across multiple locations, I help clients address the emotional, relational, and identity challenges that can arise from expatriate life, global mobility, and bi-coastal living — while supporting continuity and stability in their therapeutic work.

My therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and somatic work. I focus on helping clients develop insight alongside practical tools they can apply in their daily lives, supporting meaningful and sustainable change.

Working with me, you may find support in:

  • Career transitions and executive pressure, including both existential exploration, leadership stress and high-responsibility roles
  • Couples and relationship therapy, with a focus on communication, trust, intimacy ,and emotional connection
  • Work-life balance and burnout, especially for those of us with complicated lives balancing our families, friends and high-achieving and demanding professions
  • Life transitions and identity shifts, including relational and professional transitions, relocation and cross-cultural change
  • Resilience and practical coping strategies for long-term stability and growth

I offer virtual therapy for clients in both New York and California, where I am licensed to practice. I also offer in-person sessions in New York during the times I am in the city. If you’re seeking thoughtful, grounded therapy that supports clarity, continuity, and forward movement, I invite you to reach out today for a free consultation and start creating the life you’ve always wanted.

MY THERAPY STYLE

I enjoy working with those who feel a desire to live a happier life. Those motivated to identify what that means or to figure out the steps required to head in the direction they most would like to go.

Clients committed to therapy and our work together to improve their lives and seeing those changes take shape gives  me the most joy. The changes can be small or large, but their impact will be meaningful in their day-to-day existence.

Providing the support clients need to take the steps to achieve concrete outcomes feels great.

Take this journey for YOU!

Beginning on the journey with me of nonjudgmental, empathetic, expert support opens the world’s possibilities for you to rekindle or create your dreams, understand your pain and frustration, and develop a path of empowerment and motivation.
