In our experience of unhappiness, disappointment, grief and loss, or psychological trauma, we often presume that we are without even the most fundamental skills that we need to cope with, or overcome emotional setbacks. However, this isn’t the case. You are much more resilient than you think.
The foundation of my approach focuses on identifying your unique strengths. Together we will uncover your personality strengths of which you may have been previously unaware, and build on these strengths to develop a better understanding of yourself, how to solve issues, and set healthy boundaries with others in your life.
I use this approach to help people gain relief from symptoms of anxiety and depression, which may be triggered by unaddressed childhood trauma or traumatic life events. For those who may wonder about their true purpose in life or suffer through life transitions, together we can equip you with the means to successfully manage existential worries. I also help couples learn how to communicate more effectively and work through issues surrounding intimacy and sex. In our work together, couples begin to heal from wounds inflicted by past infidelity and unaddressed conflict, and start to see the quality of their relationships improve.
My approach uses elements of Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Structural-Strategic Family Therapy. My work is informed by my firm belief that we can learn from our past, achieve a better understanding of our patterns of behavior and view our lives with a new perspective. As you gain clarity and understanding, you will begin to feel more in control of your life story and its meaning.
Throughout my decade of experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I’ve come to view therapy as a puzzle. You have all of the possible pieces that you need, sometimes you just need someone to help you put the pieces in the right place.
