"You have the power to profoundly change your life."

Do you struggle to understand or name your feelings, needs, and desires? Maybe you’re challenged in your relationships to communicate freely and find yourself feeling disconnected, unheard or unsafe.

Perhaps anxiety or past trauma is burdening you from living a full life. Additionally, pressure to conform to societal norms can be detrimental to our emotional wellbeing if we don’t fit into traditional molds.

Having healthy relationships with others gives us the strength to be the most authentic version of ourselves. Regardless of what you’ve experienced in the past, you are worthy of healthy relationships that provide meaningful connection and unconditional love.

    Meet Josh Watson, LMSW,
    Licensed Psychotherapist

I am a licensed LGBTQIA+ affirming psychotherapist who works with people in New York City and throughout NY state. I specialize in working with individuals and couples who experience obstacles to intimacy.

Whether these relationship challenges look like healing from betrayal and infidelity, improving communication, or sexual performance issues, I provide a non-judgemental space to work through your concerns together.

My therapeutic approach draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Somatic Therapy including elements of yoga, meditation, and visualization.

By combining empirically-based approaches with intuitive and spiritual tools, my clients are able to:

    • Improve their connection, mutual understanding, and appreciation in their partnership
    • Connect with the many aspects of themselves that make them unique
    • Heal trauma and unburden parts that are holding onto pain and suffering
    • Relax their overworked minds, reconnect with their bodies, and become grounded and calm
    • Free themselves from shame, judgment, and self-doubt and find their way back toward self-love and personal power

When we’re aligned with our true selves, we’re capable of transformative growth. My wish is that my clients come to understand that their fullest potential already lies within them.

I encourage you to reach out today for a complimentary 30-minute phone session so that we can get to know each other.

    TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Are you ready to grow and expand into the life you want?

    MY THERAPY STYLE

I enjoy working with anyone who wants a bit of change in their lives, no matter how big or small. If you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired, let’s talk. If you’re open to new ideas, that’s wonderful. If you have new ideas to share with me, that’s a major bonus.

I became a therapist because I am seriously passionate about personal transformations. At first glance my own life path is a series of very dramatic changes. I studied as a biologist, trained as a dancer, worked as a lawyer, and now practice as a therapist.

In hindsight, I realize all this change was necessary to prepare me as the type of therapist who can support others in their own transformational journeys. Now I get to help clients turn their dreams into reality as a profession.

I would assure them that in therapy they are in charge. They get to decide what to disclose, what to explore, and what they want to change. I think of the therapist as a trusty guide when you’re a little lost in the wilderness.

You could probably find your way home on your own with the help of a smartphone, but with the therapist to guide you the trail will be more direct, less treacherous, and a lot more fun.

I love working with diverse clients and colleagues. Different races, genders, bodies, ages, abilities, nationalities, religions, beliefs — all the richness of life — that is what makes the work exciting and creates the opportunity to learn and grow as a therapist and human.
